Known for his humanist approach to design, architect David Chipperfield believes buildings should be built for their inhabitants. At The Bryant, he infused the architecture with the classical elegance of symmetries and grids, followed by materials that are both opulent and purposefully simple. A custom-made aggregate terrazzo on the exterior makes way for a lobby wrapped in black Portoro Extra marble with terrazzo floors running underfoot. A sleek bronze reception desk sits beneath a sculptural Viabizzuno chandelier. Blackened timber walls and fluted glass doors lead the way into the terrazzo-floored, leather-paneled Private Lobby Lounge.

The residences—which start on the 16th floor—exude warmth, with herringbone-patterned, quarter-sawn fumed oak flooring featuring radiant heat and a honed terrazzo border. In the kitchen, custom-designed white-lacquer cabinetry conceals integrated Gaggenau appliances, and Calacatta Gold marble surfaces keep the ambiance bright and airy. Floor-to-ceiling windows in each residence let in natural light and, along with terrazzo columns, frame views of the Empire State Building or, of course, Bryant Park—views that can also be enjoyed from Juliet balconies. And in the two triplex penthouses, which boast private roof decks and adjoining sunrooms, there are extra surprises: warm wood cabinetry in the kitchen and an oversized Red Jasper marble floating wall and integrated fireplace.
